Random Thoughts.

This Daddy's idea of a funny but I think I need to go on a diet.
We almost got blown away beside Yellowstone Lake. There were white caps on the lake and a tide that looked like the ocean. This was our first stop inside the park. Sadie loved running and playing in the cool, brisk air.
This is a camp ground that Granddady and Meme have camped at. It was beautiful with the cottonwoods in full golden beauty.
The moose is hiding in the grass. I got to see an elk, a moose, and a bear on last day at Tetons.
The old folks trying to figure out the digital camera.
We have had a wonderful time. We have seened many beautiful things and done lots of driving. It has great to be able to share this experience with my parents. They have told me many stories of their travels.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton

The rivers were just beautiful. I am a sucker for a river or stream flowing by the road.
Granddaddy and the mud pots. I also wore him and me out walking and climbing in and out of the truck.
Granddaddy and Meme at the visitor center in Grand Teton. We enjoyed the best weather while we toured the parks.
Me and Meme at the visitors center.
The trees have been just flaming with colors. They are just beyond words. Awesome is as close as I can get to describing them. I have always wanted to see the aspens turning and we were blessed to see them at their best. Only God could have created something like them.
We toured Yellowstone on the afternoon of Thursday and Friday. Saturday, we went to the Tetons and Jackson Hole. All I can say about Jackson Hole is that it is a place for you to spend your money, but I didn't leave any there.

Yellowstone NP

We made to Yellowstone and the first thing we do is wait for road construction. It wasn't too long and we were so excited to be there.

Yes, Grammy is at Yellowstone. I have to read to the map so the other two old folks don't get me lost. I really was more excited than I look.

Old Faithful...faithful as always.

Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to my precious daughter, Jamie. Momma, Meme, and Granddaddy love you and are sorry we are not there to celebrate with you.

Catch up!!!

I finally have access to the internet. We spent the last 3 nights at Custer State Park and the cell phone service was little or non-existent. This is our spot. It was very pretty and had good facilities.

We went on the Wildlife loop. We saw buffaloes, donkeys and turkeys. I am not very good at this blog stuff but you get the message. We toured Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse on the next day. It was cool and windy at first and then rained on us at Crazy Horse. After some sightseeing, it was laundry time. I will try to add some pictures to the other posts of our campsites.

Days 1 & 2

This Salt Flat on the first night.

This is Johnson Lake on the second night.

We left Sheridan at about 5:30 on Friday morning. It was before dawn. Our first stop was Day and Night in Sheridan, Grammy had to have a diet Coke to start the day. Then we were on our way. The next stop was McDonald's in Russellvile. Then the next stop and first photo op was the welcome center in Oklahoma. We finally settled at Great Salt Plains State Park. It is just outside of Jet, OK on the banks of the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River. It was just beautiful. The pictures are taking too long to upload so I will try later.

We left at about 8:30 this morning. The first stop when I was trying to get to the pump for diesel fuel, I side-swiped the poles that protects the pumps. Not once, but twice. It actually looks worse than it is. The rest of the day went pretty smooth. We landed at Johnson Lake State Park, close to Lexington, Nebraska. We are on to Custer State Park, ND tomorrow.

Here we go!!!!!

Well, tomorrow is the big day. We are off on our great adventure. I am sure we have more stuff than we will ever use, but Meme has a Wal-mart list ready for the first available store. Daddy and I had a few issues with the trailer today but by the end of the trip we will be experts at the Trailmanor camper. I had better get to bed because the day begins at 5:00 AM.
